We are extremely happy to announce that the Oakford Dominican Sisters have opened a new mission house in Bloemfontein, South Africa! Early last year, Congregational Prioress, Sr. Paula-Mary Van der Walt, and South African Congregational Councillor, Sr. Cecilia Smit, engaged in conversations with the Archbishop of the Diocese of Bloemfontein as well as, Fr. Patrick Towe, OMI, of the Central Province of South Africa to discern such a venture.

From May 20, 2015, to the beginning of June, our Congregational Prioress, Sr. Paula-Mary, and Sr. Christiane, the German Area Councillor, visited our Sisters in England. At this time, six Sisters currently live in and around London. Srs. Pamela, Sarah and Carol took part in the meeting which dealt with current issues. Srs. Bernadette Hurley and Prudence Cooper, who belong to the English district, are on a time-limited mission transfer to South Africa.
